83. First Book Haul of 2019

Hello, hello everyone.

Well can you look at that, 2019 has began in full swing with people taking charge of their lives, purpose and health, but here I am ordering books that I really want with money that I don’t really have. Amazing times aren’t they? But jokes apart, I placed an order at Readings.pk when I found an acquaintance willing to carry my package (generosity I tell you! May Allah mian give you so many blessings, you kind human).

Also, I went to the Lets Read Oman shop in Avenue Mall where they sell used books and I found 2  that were a total STEAL. Woohooo!!

Now, without further ado the book haul shall commence:

  1. Rich People Problem (Crazy Rich Asians book 3) by Kevin Kwan

This is the last book in the Crazy Trilogy I mean Crazy Rich Asians Trilogy by Kevin Kwan that is so over the top, obnoxious, hilarious, and extra that I have to read the last one to find out what happens with all the characters. I can’t just leave this trilogy hanging with a self-imposed cliff-hanger you know? Part 1 was epic, read it here. Part 2 was alright, read it here. Fingers crossed for the last part.

  1. This is Going to Hurt by Phil Kay

I loved When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi and was so intrigued by the life he lived both as a man suffering from cancer and treating it, that when I saw this I just wanted to pick it up. Although, the previous book had a very somber effect on me, this one is said to make people laugh and cry. Here is to hoping I laugh, more.

  1. It Ends with Us by Colleen Hover

Heard a ton about this author, and that her book are amazing. Picked it up to know what the deal is with all the hype. Can’t wait to find out.

  1. The Four The Hidden DNA of Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Google by Scott Galloway

I saw this in the Borders bookshop and the only reason why I didn’t pick it up was the price tag. It was too much for only one book, where I could get 3 or even 4 in that amount. But I found it so interesting I resigned to waiting it out for someone to bring for it me cause all the good things in life come with patience. Or so they say.

  1. The Silk Road by Peter Frankopan

Alright, this may be my first history book? Or one with tons of analysis on it. I won’t lie, I’m kinda scared to read it for it has a lot of information. Seeing how people were going crazy for it, I couldn’t believe when I saw it in the Lets Read shop for only ONE RIAL.  That is an absolute bargain!!

  1. Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom

Bought this just for the sake of buying something. *Guilty as charged*

  1. Dracula by Bram Stoker

I don’t like the genre: Horror AT ALL! Be it in movies, books, TV Shows, life ? I don’t do Horror. But I loved watching Hotel Transylvania and that movie was anything but scary, it made me wonder about the fictional character of Dracula. So I picked this up. Also I was in love with the cover design by Arcturus publishing and now it is in my possession.

That’s it for now. I’m stocked for the next 3 months I guess, as I plan on reading slowly this year. But you never know.
